N-(1-(2- feniletil)-4- piperidinil)-N- fenil-propanammide (Fentanyl) is known to be 100 times stronger than morphine and has been in use for a lot of time. In Italy, there are no evidences of abuse. I think I say the obvious by saying that nothing is bad in itself, but certainly you can make bad use of anything. Terminally ill patients have the right to the best possible care. The task of "healthy people" is to ensure this an to monitor misuse by patients and/or by those who spread substances which must remain in a protected environment.
On the other hand, we must be careful not to confuse the part with the whole: drugs can not provide the psychological, existential and spiritual needs of these patients.
